Compost - ReUse - Recycle
We believe that actions to ease the impact we have on our planet should be easy to use and to access for all residents. This is an important step to make becoming zero waste achievable for all.
We strive toward zero-waste food cooperatives in each community, addressing both local food deserts and the excessive waste produced by most grocery chains.
We also provide a way to give items a second life through our Lending Library for all items including clothes, books, toys, and larger single use items.
Our communities are open to everyone. We believe healthy communities are diverse in every way.
We reserve a percentage of each project for workforce housing, and 40% for low-income, and extremely low-income individuals and families.
There are opportunities for ownership and wealth building as well as safety nets for housing security such as rental reserves to help enhance the lives of our residents.
Onsite dependent care and after school education programs are important to community stability.
We make these available to community members on a sliding scale based on income.
Elder care and child care have a number of natural complimentary components and will share some spaces to enhance the community across all ages and stages.
Food security is an important part of community and social justice. It also has a tremendous impact on our environment and climate.
We work with horticulture, regenerative agriculture, and biophilia experts to design onsite gardens and greenhouses that work to feed the community, produce an income, as well as create additional outdoor/indoor spaces and learning opportunities for community members.
Designed for efficiency, resiliency, climate change tolerance, regeneration, and localization.
Solar, small wind, and in-line hydro combined with extreme efficiency create an enormous opportunity for renewable energy on-site.
We also focus on reusable water including grey water used for irrigation, energy production, and flushing.
We have covered electric vehicle charging stations available to residents, commercial tenants, and the public.
We offer additional electric vehicles that are part of our ride share and delivery program with job opportunities for our community members.
Education extending beyond standard classroom knowledge designed to encompass multiple areas of study for a wide range of ages and stages. In addition, classes provide a place for neighbors to connect and learn together.
Some example courses:
Flexible work from home options have become more common. A change of scenery can also be refreshing.
An onsite business center and work pods with all relevant technology gives residents the flexibility to work or attend school from a safe space steps from their front door.
Providing a space for residents to connect with medical professionals and supportive services within their immediate community.
Access to a lending library of objects where the sky is the limit and the inventory grows with the community. Items include:
Residents will have the option to park bikes in a secure facility onsite.
In addition to security, residents will have self serve access to:
A community driven small business incubator including resources and services that businesses rely on to start up.
Dedicated professionals give residents access to tools, professional services, and mentors as well as other resources needed to start a small business within the community.
Built into the program are offices, cooperative retail spaces, maker spaces, storage facilities, access to a commercial kitchen, and greenhouse and garden space. We also strive to give our community access to capital acquisition tools, transportation efficiencies, and buying power.
